NOBODY’S
EVERYONE’S CHILDREN
26 YEARS OF INTERVENTIONS FOR
THE MOST VULNERABLE CHILDREN:
children kept at home, in their families, and away from orphanages
peste 7.500 de copii scoși de acolo și 2.000 reîntorși acasă
built for children from orphanages
guided towards independent living
In April 2024, together with Amalia Enache, David Popovici, Mihai Morar, Marius Manole, and Alexandru Tomescu, we launched the most ambitious fundraising campaign for children in orphanages. Our goal was to bring together the largest community of donors and build, from scratch, a family home for 11 children with moderate to severe special needs.
The launch of the Ambassador for Home – When We Build a House, We Shape a child’s Future campaign took place at Casa Mița Biciclista, alongside the GOOD people who chose to support this initiative and contribute with their resources, energy and dedication to succeed in offering the 11 children a HOME of their own, where they can feel safe, loved and protected.
The family home is not just a shelter, but also the chance for a new beginning.
Every detail is thoughtfully designed to meet the special needs of the children.
- spacious living room
- kitchen
- welcoming terrace
- four bedrooms
- two bathrooms
- large yard
Amalia Enache, Alexandru Tomescu, David Popovici, Mihai Morar and Marius Manole are the Ambassadors who turned the dream into reality:
David Popovici, world and Olympic swimming champion, donated his award ceremony outfit from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, turning it into a symbol of generosity. His gesture inspired thousands of people to donate, proving that true victory comes from giving.
Amalia Enache, journalist and TV presenter, donated a special piece of jewelry, a combination of diamond and pearl, symbolizing purity and inner strength. It became a lucky donor's prize, attracting the attention and generosity of those who wanted to contribute.
Mihai Morar, journalist and broadcaster, brought a fresh perspective, offering a unique podcast experience that brought together individual and corporate donors in a joint effort for children.
Actor Marius Manole donated the costume he wore in his debut performance of Heart of a Dog. The play has now become part of the story that will give children the chance of a better life.
Violinist Alexandru Tomescu has already brought music into the future home, performing a special recital within the walls that are beginning to take shape of the family home. This moment was dedicated exclusively to the children who will live there.
Each Ambassador brought a piece of their soul, mobilizing thousands of people to believe in the cause.
Together, they raised
over €590,000 and proved that when good people join forces, anything is possible.
14,600 donors and 28 companies joined forces, and in November 2024 we started building the home for 11 children who need support, love and a place to call HOME.
Thank you, David Popovici, Amalia Enache, Alexandru Tomescu, Marius Manole, Mihai Morar and all those who have put a brick in the children's house!
Child Rights Ambassadors - The right to a safe and adequate environment
One family home completed and five others under construction:
a new start for vulnerable children
Every child deserves protection, safety and a place to call HOME. In 2024, we completed the construction of a new family home in Țuțora, Iasi county - a place where children can personalize their rooms, receive visits from friends and cook together, just like at home. In parallel, we worked on building five more houses, each of them a promise of a friendly and welcoming home. Three of these homes - located in the Iasi county, in Targu Frumos, Aroneanu and Miroslava - will soon welcome their children. Another one will open its doors in Rupea, Brasov county, and another in Bucharest – District 5, offering hope where once there was only uncertainty.
In 2024, we put the lock on 6 orphanages - in Bucharest, Iasi, Brasov and Sibiu. In 26 years of work on behalf of vulnerable children, we have worked to close 75 orphanages.
1,000 children still live in the 50 orphanages that exist in Romania.
Life in a family home - what does it offer children?
Children live in a regular home and are cared for by specialized and dedicated staff, with whom they can develop attachment relationships.
A family home accommodates a maximum of 12 children, allowing them to form closer relationships.
The educators help with homework, encourage their aspirations, and provide emotional support.
Children are taught to participate in household activities, make decisions and become independent.
They are encouraged to have friends, go to school and participate in extracurricular activities.
In a family home, children are part of a small community where strong bonds are formed between them and the adults who care for them. This environment gives them the emotional security they need, helping them to feel that they belong in a place they can truly call ”home”.
”If it weren't for you, we might not be the children we are today. We don't know how we could repay you for everything you've done. You helped us when we needed it, and you've always been there for us. We want to thank you for everything!”

We are grateful for the support provided, which brings smiles and stability to these children and young people: Kaufland România, Inditex, JYSK România, Asociației Umanitare Tester Grup, Comunității La Primul Bebe.
Turning family apartments into real homes
We continue to change lives through projects dedicated to renovating family apartments. The latest step in this mission is the inauguration of two fully renovated apartments in District 3, Bucharest.
11 girls, who previously lived in the former Pinocchio Placement Center, have moved into these apartments and are now enjoying stability and safety in a warm and welcoming environment.

Thank you, Saint Gobain România and Saint Gobain Foundation, for helping us give young people the chance to become independent and confident!
Goodwill Ambassadors
The three camps organized in the summer of 2024 were a long-awaited opportunity for educational games, exploration and fun for the children in the family homes we built and in the social care services we developed.
There were days full of diverse activities - from team challenges, mountain trails, orienteering exercises and games that tested their skills, to workshops on communication, leadership, empathy and fair play.
In our camps, children learn to face obstacles and explore new perspectives through experiential education activities that help them discover themselves and overcome their vulnerabilities.
Thank you, Douglas România and NN România for making these colorful and meaningful days possible for 35 children!
Lullaby ambassadors at UNTOLD
When it comes to festivals, we think of grand stages, unique installations and renowned artists. But at UNTOLD 2024, for us, the stage that shone the brightest was the Lullabies stage. Why? Because here, fun mixed with good deeds.
And the songs rang with hope and generosity for vulnerable children. In the midst of this universe of experiences, a unique symbol swayed gently - a heart transformed into a cradle, telling, without words, the most profound story: the boundless love of a mother.
What made this stage so special?
- 🎸 It was the place where songs harmoniously intertwined with generosity and kindness;
- 🎤 It gave us the opportunity to talk about GOODNESS and receive the generosity of the audience;
- 🌟 It was the space where every big heart could shine.
For all of this, we thank Kaufland România, for giving wings to a big heart!
Ambassadors for gifted children
Alin, Alina, Andreea R., Andreea T., Cristina, Dragos, Emanuel, Georgiana, Iasmina, Ioana, Izabela, Laurentiu, Maria M., Maria R., Marinel, Nicusor, Paul, Paula, Paula, Petru, Raluca, Rares, Sara, Serena, Sonia, Sorina, Teodor, Tudor, Vasilica, Victor, Vlad are the 30 DAR scholarship holders of the third edition of the program launched in 2022, so that the dreams of vulnerable children can take wings. Their academic, artistic or sporting achievements, despite material hardship, are for us true lessons in resilience and passion. Through the DAR Scholarships we support them to fulfill their dreams and their destiny.
- Each scholarship from the DAR Scholarships program means much more than the €2,000 awarded annually. It is a real chance for these children to push their limits, to learn, to compete, to discover themselves. It is not just financial support, but a commitment to give them the chance to nurture their talent and write their own success stories.
- Behind every name lies a story of courage - of a child with extraordinary talent. We are here to support them, to give them wings and confidence on the path they have already begun to conquer.
The summer of 2024 was the moment we met the DAR #3 scholarship recipients - children and young people with big dreams, full of courage and hope. We gathered in a camp that became a space of inspiration, where we opened our hearts, laughed, and shared stories about ourselves, the world, and our individual journeys. Through games and educational activities, we learned from one another about the strength found in vulnerability and the power of dreams that are worth pursuing to the very end.
Together with Universum, the scholarship recipients enjoyed a unique educational and recreational experience, blending learning with creativity and joy.
In the multimedia space of Mina Museum, the scholarship recipients had the opportunity, through spectacular projections, to explore the universe of classical and contemporary artists; they could look beyond the limits of their imagination and enjoy the beauty of the cosmos, far away planets and shining stars - all within a magical setting.
At Edenland they had an adventurous day: they conquered their fears by completing tree trails, tested their precision in archery, played mini-golf and enjoyed the cool, fresh air of the forest.
From etiquette expert Ileana Zamfir, they learned good manners and social behavior rules - essential aspects for success in life.
During the workshop hosted by Banca Transilvania, the children discovered essential principles of money management, learning valuable financial concepts for their future.
At the end of the year, we celebrated the scholarship winners at the DAR Scholarship Gala, at the National Bank of Romania. The Romanian champions themselves - David Popovici and the members of the Olympic Rowing Team - Ionela și Marius Cozmiuc, Maria și Florin Lehaci, Roxana Anghel, Florin Enache, Andrei Sebastian Cornea, Amalia Bereș and Florin Horodișteanu– rewarded excellence during an event marked by the strength of the performance and the vulnerability of the journey to get there.
We are grateful to the partners who support the education and development of young people in Romania through the DAR Scholarships: PENNY România, Alliance Healthcare România, Banca Transilvania, B&BCollection, Douglas România and Inditex
Ambassadors of young people in the child protection system, who, upon reaching adulthood, have no one by their side
In the fall of 2024, we opened the third Transit Center in Iași, dedicated to young people who leave the child protection system at the end of their studies. Here, they find more than just shelter: access to psychological counseling, career guidance, medical and social assistance, thus being supported in their transition to independent living.
The Transit Center in Iași is the third in the country, following the ones inaugurated in Baia Mare in 2016 and Botoșani in 2022.
At the end of their studies, when the time comes for young people to leave the child protection system, they face many challenges: finding a job, paying rent, managing a household, and social discrimination.
In this context, the Transit Center in Iași provides support tailored to their specific needs: in addition to accommodation and medical services, it offers a range of essential interventions for their personal and professional development. The young people have access to psychological counseling here, which helps them cope with the emotional difficulties of the transition phase.
Additionally, they are guided through career orientation, helping them identify their skills, interests, and employment opportunities, while the center's specialists assist them in building a concrete career plan. The young people can benefit from this support for 6 to 24 months.
Thank you, Kaufland România, for your constant involvement and commitment to supporting our initiatives!
In addition to building the transit centers, we, Hope and Homes for Children, have been alongside 2,520 young people over the 26 years of activity, who, upon reaching adulthood, have faced the challenges of transitioning to independent living. 2024 is no exception, and this year we have provided direct support to 97 young people.
Besides the support provided in finding a suitable job, we pay special attention to the emotional and psychological aspects of the young people. Many of them have lived in orphanages where they were exposed to difficult conditions, and the transition to adulthood can generate anxiety and insecurity. Through our psychological counseling programs, we provide them with a safe space where they can discuss their fears and challenges, helping them better manage their emotions and face difficulties.
We stand by them throughout the entire integration process, aiming to provide long-term support. We assist them in finding housing and managing their personal budget, essential aspects for a stable and independent life.
„I have learned the most painful lessons life can offer in the years spent in the center: the lesson of abandonment, the lesson of shattered trust, the lesson of waiting, and the hardest one, the lesson of loneliness. I turned these lessons into an opportunity to get to know myself, to test myself, and to value myself at the same time. School has been my only anchor during these years."”.
Cristian, 25 years old
Cristian Lupan is one of the young adults we support on their journey to independence. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Social Work, then pursued a Master's degree in the same field, and is currently a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Sociology in Cluj-Napoca. During his first year of Master's studies, he realized the path that would help him heal and help others heal: psychotherapy.
With our support, he was able to attend training courses in psychotherapy. His dream is to open his own practice, and he is confident that he will succeed. We are convinced that he will.
We support young people on their journey to adulthood with the help of Concentrix and Think Human Foundation, Raiffeisen Bank, AGRII România, Starbucks România and The Starbucks Foundation. Thank you!
Ambassadors of children whose only wish is to return home
„It's so good to be home! I'm so glad to be here again.”
Alexandra, a teenage girl reunited with her mother after 2 years in the Mihail Sadoveanu Foster Care Center in Iasi
„It's so good to be home! I'm so glad to be here again.”
Alexandra, a teenage girl reunited with her mother after 2 years in the Mihail Sadoveanu Foster Care Center in Iasi
The separation from her family was hard for Alexandra. Due to shortcomings, her safe home was gone, and the warmth of her mother's embrace had become just a memory. Everything that meant home to her was replaced by a foreign space and a great emptiness in her heart.
For Alexandra to be able to return to her family, we stood by both mother and daughter: we provided counseling, listened to their fears, and helped them rediscover each other. But we also made sure that home became a safe and welcoming place: we bought building materials, repaired Alexandra's room, furnished it and improved the conditions in the house so that nothing could keep them apart.
Today, the fire burns again in the stove, and the house is filled with the peace and warmth of a reunited family. Alexandra and her mother are finally where they belong – at home.
- In 2024, we managed to reunite 100 children with their families, where sleep is peaceful, and each day begins with a warm hug. Just as it should be for every child.
- When we close an orphanage, the most precious moments are not those when the doors shut, but those when a mother’s arms open to welcome her child back. It is a victory of what is natural, the moment when a child, after years of longing and waiting, steps back into their home, the place where their heart has always been.
Parents who have gone through a difficult process of therapy, socio-professional reintegration, or recovery after serious illnesses bring their children home, and families are supported in rebuilding their lives together.
The children who return home give us the strength to keep moving forward, to fight for every soul that is still waiting for that day.
On behalf of every child who had the chance to return home, where they truly belong, we thank: Alliance Healthcare România, AGRA ASIGURĂRI.
Ambassadors of the "Family, My All" program
„Sunny days, so full and bright, /
Everything will be alright.”
„Sunny days, so full and bright, / Everything will be alright.”
From the first meeting with the Little Redhead, we felt that we would do everything we could to give her a better future. She greeted us by reciting a poem, "Sunny days, so full and bright, / Everything will be alright," introduced us to the cats she plays with, and then gathered her siblings for a ball game.
The mother and her three children live in a small village, on a street where there are no other children to play with. Their chance to feel like part of a community is school. In their home, there are few toys: a pink bicycle for all three of them and a ball. However, despite the lack of material things, their smiles and energy fill the house and yard. Little Redhead 's mother is a strong woman who doesn't allow herself to rest, especially since her eldest son has a severe disability. Day by day, she dedicates herself to cooking, cleaning, and working in the garden. She strives to provide her children with a warm home, protection, and care for their harmonious development. But how can she handle everything on her own?
We have been by this family's side, supporting them with their most urgent needs: access to the water and sewage network and fully equipping the bathroom. In addition, we created a dining area so that when the children return from school, they have a space to sit and talk with their mother while enjoying a warm soup. Now, their lives are a little easier, and they can stay together in a warm and safe home. Because only next to their mother, childhood is complete.
- In 2024, we managed to prevent the institutionalization of over 1,700 children. Thanks to the support we have received, these children have been given the chance to stay with their families, where they are at their best.
- For 26 years, we have been fighting with all our strength to prevent poverty from separating children from their parents.
Through the "Family, My All" program, we make sure that every child grows up in safety, with their loved ones, without being marked by material deprivation. We're committed to giving a chance to those who need help the most, and every step we take, every child who stays at home is a victory.
For every child who smiles in mom's arms, we thank: Schneider Electric România, Douglas România, World Bank, Grădinariu Import Export, SOMA.

From laughing to crying, from childhood nostalgia to exploring the relationship with your own children, the podcast is a heartwarming journey with Heart Wide Open.
The third season of the podcast is made possible thanks to the support of JYSK România, a partner of the Foundation since 2017. A new beginning, same open hearts.
Goodwill Ambassadors at TIFF
At the Banffy Castle in Răscruci, the community of film enthusiasts at the TIFF festival turned all their good energy into gestures of solidarity with vulnerable children.
In return, we gave them stories of how life really beats movies: stories told in the soulful voice of our ambassador Amalia Enache, who for years has been spreading our messages of Home and Hope with such presence and sensitivity.
Thank you, TIFF friends! Thank you, Amalia! Thank you, Tudor Giurgiu!
Ambassadors of the childhood every child should have
This year, OPTIblu, Napolact și Douglas have chosen to stand by the children who need support the most. Every pair of children's glasses bought in OPTIblu stores meant 50 lei donated to give a vulnerable child a warm and safe home. Together, Napolact's customers put love into a donation, providing a nutritious breakfast for over 160 children, and Napolact doubled every gesture of generosity.
In turn, Douglas turned each Advent Calendar Makeup and Advent Calendar Men into a gift of inner beauty, donating 10 lei to help children stay with their families. Together, we turned good deeds into real chances for a better childhood!
Thank you, OPTIblu, Napolact, Douglas România!
Ambassadors for Change: We cycled for a real HOME
We turned the kilometers we cycled into a journey home during the 9th edition of the Marriott Cycling Challenge. Together, we pedaled for 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝟏 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 from the last foster care center in Sector 5, Bucharest, under the guidance of World Class România instructors.
Thank you, JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel!
Ambassadors of Joy: An Unforgettable Day on Two Wheels
On June 1st, we cycled alongside Maramureș Bike, in a city tour of Baia Mare. We relived the joy of childhood in the great outdoors and enjoyed every activity: archery, zip-lining, basketball, puppet theater, and capturing memories at the photo corner with beloved characters. Music, laughter, and the excitement of every child turned the day into a vibrant adventure filled with color and joy.
Thank you, Maramureș Bike!
Ambassadors of generosity
In a world where every birthday is an occasion to celebrate with the people we love the most, our friends - Cornel Ilie, Dragoș Petrescu, Marius Cozmiuc, Adrian Nartea, Radu Țibulcă, Lavinia Petrea, Feli Donose, Emma Ștefan, Monica Orlandea and Ronna Riva - have turned their birthday into a gift for the most vulnerable children. By choosing to forgo gifts and asking friends for donations to our programs instead, they not only gave hope to children, but demonstrated that true fulfillment comes from generosity.
Through their gesture, they showed that love is measured not in gifts received, but in smiles given and dreams brought back to life. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts!
Ambassadors of children who become mothers
"I am a mom at 13, so I guess I can say I am brave! I am trying to make it GOOD for him" - a heartfelt, heartbreaking, hopeful and determined confession of a fragile mother who has to give up childhood too early to make room for her son's childhood.
In the context of the Prevention of Early Motherhood pilot project we listened to many such stories and sought to understand so that we could really help. These adolescents become mothers in contexts of vulnerability, poverty and social exclusion. Many have left childhood behind too early and are forced to work instead of going to school. Through our project, we provided support - from access to social, educational, psychological and medical services, to baby care products and, most importantly, educational sessions to improve parenting skills.
This project would not have been possible without the support of Kaufland România. Thus, we were able to bring education to where it is most needed. Thank you!
Good practice ambassadors
Together with NGO Academy and more than 50 professionals from 26 NGOs - social workers, psychologists and specialists committed to a better future for vulnerable children and young people - we discussed at the conference WELL DONE, concrete solutions to the pressing problems they face:
- Supporting young people leaving orphanages as they take their first steps toward independent living;
- Assisting mothers who are victims of domestic violence, helping them find the courage to seek help;
- Preventing the separation of children from their parents and combating family poverty;
- Offering support to teenage girls who become mothers before they become adults
We thank NGO Academy and our colleagues who shared their experiences, offering valuable solutions and inspiration to everyone present!
Ambassadors of Good Deeds
Volunteering is more than just getting involved - it's about dedication and a desire to make a difference. And when companies choose to stand with vulnerable children, the impact is truly extraordinary.
In 2024, our partners demonstrated what it means to be an Ambassador of Good Deeds by offering their time and presence to children.
- They landscaped the garden and planted flowers, transforming the courtyard of the family homes into a vibrant and colorful space full of life.
- They painted the interior walls of the houses, personalizing the rooms according to the children's preferences.
- They furnished the family homes so that when the children move in, they have a modern, comfortable and functional space.
- They cooked together with the children, creating moments of joy and connection through simple yet heartfelt activities.
- They took the children on trips, broadening their horizons and giving them new experiences.
- They went out to a restaurant together and enjoyed some relaxing moments.
- They have prepared the children for school by providing them with shoes and fully equipped backpacks, ensuring that each one steps into the new school year with confidence.
We thank the big-hearted people from the companies AGRII România, BCR Leasing, JYSK România, Starbucks România, Alumil, DB Global Tehnology, Coca-Cola HBC România, Grundfos Grundfos, Nespresso and Optical Investment Group!
Ambassadors of Santa Claus
In December, when the atmosphere of the holidays should bring only joy, the Munteanu family was going through one of life's hardest trials. A fire had destroyed not just their home, but their peace, their security, their memories. In an instant, everything they had built a lifetime had turned to ashes.
Visuri la cheie offered them not just a roof, but a true HOME – warm, welcoming, and full of light. A place where the five children of the Munteanu family can enjoy their childhood without the fear of what tomorrow might bring.
When we visited them, we saw their eyes shining with happiness. The children opened their hearts and arms to receive the gifts we brought, while the parents, overwhelmed with emotion, found comfort in our promise: they would no longer worry about maintenance debts, nor live in fear of eviction.
For the Munteanu family, life begins anew. And it begins with a home where hope has conquered pain and dreams have taken root.
Also in December, Romanian rowing champions visited two of the family homes we built. They offered the children Christmas gifts, medals they have won over the years and time together.
They were Santa Claus for the children: Roxana Anghel, Florin Horodișteanu, Maria and Florin Lehaci, Mihai Țigănescu, Mihai Chiruță, Ancuța Bodnar, Florin Enache, Patricia Cireș, Sorin Butaru, Laura and Ioan Prundeanu.
Just before Christmas, a few more of Santa’s helpers arrived at our family home in Domnești. Chef Samuel baked fresh, aromatic cookies together with the girls, while Alexia Eram spoke with them about education, following their passions, and embracing their uniqueness. Along with her encouraging words, Alexia also brought them gifts - beautiful clothes meant to remind them to carry their confidence every day and to always feel truly wonderful.
Everything we have achieved – we have achieved together.
Thank you for standing by our side and for choosing, year after year, to be part of the change that truly matters.

Given that the investments in the social protection infrastructure made by the Foundation (construction of family houses, transit centres, Respiro centres, community centres, etc.) take place over several years, the expenses related to the transferred properties vary annually, as the properties are completed, furnished and equipped and subsequently donated. The costs related to these buildings are recorded in the accounting at the time of their transfer, that is, when making the final inventory and donating the buildings to the final beneficiary (public authorities or other entities).
